Description
Sourced from three sprawling, southern-exposed blocks at the Martinelli Charles Ranch, three miles in from the Pacific at 1,115-ft elevation. The ranch was planted in 1982 by George Charles (Lee Martinelli Jr.’s maternal grandfather) amidst redwoods, bay laurels, and oaks.
The 2023 growing season was defined by a wet and cold winter, recharging ground water and significantly delaying bloom. Spring remained cool, leading to a mild summer without any extended heat waves. Harvest began after Labor Day with Estate Pinot Noir from Westside Farms, three weeks later than in 2022. Chardonnay followed right after.
