Description
In 1923, the founders of the company, the Jelinek brothers, drew inspiration from renowned cognac producers and, for the first time ever, allowed plum brandy (slivovitz) to mature in oak barrels. For over a century now, they have been purposefully aging slivovitz and other fruit brandies in Vizovice. Sometimes, they let the wooden barrels influence the brandy briefly, just to gently complement its character, while at other times the distillate matures in the barrel for so long that it undergoes a complete transformation.
Over twenty years ago, they also began fulfilling Rudolf Jelinek’s vision, which he could not accomplish due to World War II. They started planting plum orchards in Vizovice, in the local area of Techlov. Today, they are the largest plum growers in the Czech Republic.
Thank to the experience of their predecessors and the possibilities of their own orchards, they create unique spirits that have no equal. And such is the Family Reserve – plum brandy from Techlov, transformed by the barrel to the point of being nearly unrecognisable.
Aroma: Plum to prune-like with pronounced woody notes and hints of caramel and chocolate
Taste: Delicate, dry and warm, with flavors of plum jam and subtle hints of cinnamon or coffee
Finish: Long and warming, with a slightly tightening sensation at the end
