Description
Champagne Aubry is a tiny grower-producer label that grows 100% of its own grapes, including lesser-known varieties like Arbanne, Petit, Meslier, Pinot Blanc and Fromenteau. Located in the Premier Cru village of Jouy-lès-Reims (in the western section of the famous Montagne de Reims), the Aubry family has been farming grapes in Champagne since 1790.
Made from equal parts Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier, along with a small percentage of Arbanne, Petit Meslier and Fromenteau, the standard Aubry Brut Champagne spends 18 months on the less, adding richness and creaminess to its snappy and refreshing acidity. More importantly, the wine tastes like it costs double what it actually does.
91 POINTS: WINE SPECTATOR – A distinctive Champagne, structured by firm acidity and lightly wooly in texture, with notes of whole-wheat toast, dried raspberry, candied orange peel and hints of fresh chamomile and thyme. Minerally finish.
