Description
- WHY: The Montreuil “Selection” edition was originally designed and intended strictly for bartenders as a younger, higher-proof (44%) Calvados that would showcase the fruit and punch of a quality apple brandy in classic cocktails like a Jack Rose. Due to COVID-19 closing all bars and restaurants in the state, the bottles were made available to retailers, and we couldn’t be more excited to offer them to our customers.
- HOW: Made from 2-3 year old Calvados brandies from 15 different varieties of apples, mostly bittersweet, with small percentages of sweet and acidic. Aged in barrel, then blended in a tank after double pot still distillation.
- WHAT: Domaine du Manoir de Montreuil is a small farm in Normandy owned by the Giard family that farms apples and makes cider for Calvados distillation and general consumption. All the orchards are farmed “haut-tige” meaning the trees are older before harvesting begins, resulting in fewer apples, but more concentrated flavors.
